CUE Biopharma Announces $30 Million Private Placement and Appoints Shao-Lee Lin, M.D., Ph.D. as CEO, President and Board Director

Selective Immune Modulation Platform – Cue's engineered biologics are designed to mimic nature's immunological signals to selectively expand and activate only the disease-relevant T cell population in the patient's own body, avoiding the systemic toxicities associated with broad, non-specific immune activators such as IL-2.
Validated Boehringer Ingelheim Partnership – CUE-501, the company's bispecific B-cell depletion therapy for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, is partnered with Boehringer Ingelheim for a deal carrying up to $345 million in potential milestone payments plus royalties. A $7.5 million milestone payment was earned in April 2026, confirming early scientific and commercial progress within the collaboration.
Pipeline Expansion into Allergic Disease – Cue secured an exclusive global license (excluding Greater China) for Ascendant-221, a Phase 2-stage dual-mechanism anti-IgE monoclonal antibody targeting food allergy and chronic spontaneous urticaria. Phase 2 data from an ongoing China study are expected in the second half of 2026, providing a near-term catalyst.
Collaboration Revenue Growth and Narrowing Net Loss – Collaboration revenue reached $5.7 million in Q1 2026, compared to $0.4 million in Q1 2025, driven primarily by the Boehringer Ingelheim partnership. The company's Q1 2026 net loss narrowed to $5.2 million from $12.3 million in the prior year period, reflecting higher revenue and reduced R&D expenditures.
Transformative Leadership and $27.6 Million Capital Raise – Shao-Lee Lin, M.D., Ph.D. was appointed CEO in April 2026, bringing over 25 years of biopharmaceutical leadership experience including founding ACELYRIN (Nasdaq-listed, IPO valuation exceeding $2 billion) and roles at AbbVie, Gilead Sciences, and Amgen. Alongside her appointment, Cue raised $27.6 million net through a private placement of pre-funded warrants, closing May 4, 2026, to advance the clinical pipeline and fund general operations.
